I think that it is because the beliefs cater to their innermost desires.

But you do feel sorry for the r&f who gave their time, energy, and finances to build the halls. They were always told that the KHs were part of the goods held in the hands of Jesus (aka the Gov. Body on earth).
There were real efforts to build KHs in each town - only for them to disappear as congregations were merged. People asked us in the ministry "If you are the one true church why aren't you in every town like the other churches?"
Soon people will be asking who JWs actually are because no one will see their presence in the community at all!
As far as letter writing goes what do most people do when unsolicited junk mail is put in the letter box, they toss it out with the rubbish. The only reason for letter writing and cold calling by telephone is so the r&f can report Service Time to the organisation.
It serves no practical purpose outside of that reason.

I think the Society picks what everyone wishes for and says God's new world will accomplish it.
People long for good health, a roof over their head, food on the table, no more war, etc.
My old aunt, born in 1917, would never go to high school because of the imminence of the kingdom rule. I was told the same thing in the 60s and 70s. Children today are warned off university for the same reason. Gullible? Yes. But brainwashed by the "where else could we go" message.

Removing Historic Monuments and Statues - Does the Term "Historical" Make it Right or Wrong?
by RubaDub inafter further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.
you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.
would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

John 5:28,29.
by Lost in the fog inwe used to use this scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection.
but recently i got to thinking about it.
if the apostle paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?

We used to use this Scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection. But recently I got to thinking about it.
If the apostle Paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?
JWs would say it was for those who will live on the earth, but did any of the people Jesus said that to believe anything about a resurrection to the earth? Trying to make sense of something I haven't thought about for a long time.
Any one clarify this for me please.

Is it something new with them? And does it make you wonder what they are actually installing on your device to track you?

It should be apparent to anyone who has a copy of the elder's school text book. Most of the book is taken up with info on judicial committees whereas shepherding, actually listening to the needs of the flock, doesn't appear until chapter 25 and is so short that you'd almost miss it.

The Motive of the Governing Body
by jwfacts ini have been quiet of late, developing other interests, happy that there are a whole group of people producing great resources.
however, i found some old emails from ray franz that promoted me to write an article that answers a question i regularly receive.
it is in regards to the motive of governing body members.

The comment was made earlier in this discussion that the WT / GB says that some people who claim to be of the anointed may be suffering from a mental illness.
This implies that a mental illness would exclude them from any part in the 144,000. But why? If the 144,000 are chosen so as to relate to the experiences of humans on the earth, surely they would have to have a genuine understanding of mental illness as well. And who better than people who had experienced it first hand!
I'd rather have a heavenly government that understands the complexity of what being human means, than a group of people who think that no one can be right with God if they have been ill.
(Not that it matters really because it is a fairy tale anyway.)
